1990 Honda Accord EX

Oct. 1990 - Sept. 2004
THIS IS MY LIFE STORY. SORRY IT'S KINDA LONG.

1990 Honda Accord EX, 4 door.

2.2L L4 SOHC PFI 16V 130hp stock motor.

Born Oct. 1st 1990

Died Sept. 2nd 2004

I was born on October 1st, 1990 in a little Honda plant in the U.S.A.

I have lived in many places in the U.S. Including AL, KY, NC, and TN.

I had 3 different owners, but none loved me half as much as my final owner. The care, maintenance, improvements and upgrades received gave me a new hope in life.

March of 1999 I was sitting in a used car lot when a blue Ford Ranger pulled up. I thought it was another person "just looking around". Little did I know that this person had already made a deal with the salesman to buy me that day.

As he got in and turned the key, I felt a sense of joy and peace. Maybe this is the person to help me. My radio was in need or repair and my lighter outlet did not work. I needed some body repair to my back door from a small accident of my previous owner.

Soon we gently drove off the lot. Nice drive home and a gentle bath. I could see the excitement on his face when he looked at me. He was happy to have a newer car.

I met his friends and family and through them learned his name was David. I listened to them talk as we drove around. I found out I was not the first choice on his list of cars, but he got me because I was front wheel drive (FWD). After he learned that things in his life were changing fast, he took a slight down turn. I remember the day he met a person he called Tim. Tim had a truly sexy little white VW Jetta. She was a little older then I was, but I kinda like older cars *wink*.

Over a period of time Tim and David talked about cars and motors and all kinda of ways to improve them. I got really excited when David said he planned to improve me. But excitement faded when money got low and dreams faded into the blue sky.

After a while we relocated to a small place. I remember then getting a stereo upgrade. Ah the wonderful sounds flowing through my interior, the feel of the bass when it hit. The joy on David's face when he drove around. I could see that his love for me was growing.

Then one night something bad happened. Some person came alone and scratched me up. They took a key and scraped it all over my body, my hood, my trunk, even my roof. The pain of feeling that dig into my paint. I wish I could have called out to David to help me, but he had removed the non working alarm from under my hood.

After healing, David treated me to something special. We went to a shop and I had a new set of neon lights put on. I loved those lights. They gave me pride and I drove around with my head(lights) held high.

The glamor of the lights led to neons being installed to my interior in colors matching the ones outside.

Sadly the glamor of the shine faded after an accident on a slightly slippery road sent me sliding into a ditch. The damage was small, but the neons were smashed.

David started doing other upgrades, like shaving my door handles, but with lack of money and knowledge they never got finished. What a wonderful idea. The sleek look, but after many, many months of driving around without interior door panels, he finally converted me back to normal.

Months later we moved again. I was hoping for a new start in a fresh place. Chattanooga, TN.

I'll never forget that place. About 4 months after our move David met a guy named Ray that owned a Honda&Acura shop just a block away. David hung out there and learned all he could.

One day a 1992 Accord came in with motor problems. Ray told David he could use parts from the 92 to fix me up. I was so excited.

Over the next few days I received a whole new interior. From dash to trunk. It was a BEAUTIFUL maroon that matched my exterior paint. I also received a new back door to replace the damaged one, a new hood, new grill, new trunk lid with new tail lights, and a new rear bumper. Along with all that. I received a new set of wheels donated from a Acura Legend.

My improvements were wonderful.

David then started having problems again. He was hitting a low point in his life and I didn't know what to do to help. We packed up and moved back to North Carolina.

Soon after that David met a girl in Georgia. They hung out a lot. We made many trips to GA. It was then that I started feeling a pain. Something was wrong inside.

Then one day it happened. I had a serious heart attack. After after many heart transplants by David, I was loaded into the emergency transport and taken to Ray in Chattanooga, but a lass there was nothing left to do. It was time to pull the plug. So on September 2nd 2004, I was gently laid to rest. I remember the look on David's face as he drove away the last time, never to see me again.

Dear friends,

We are gathered here today to morn the loss of 'Angel' the 1990 Honda Accord EX, a truly wonderful car.  A car that gave many such joy in their lives. The long trips, the many nights camping under the stars. And wonderful 'new car' smell when she received an all new interior.  Though she looked a little rough on the outside, she was a beautiful car on the inside.

At the very young age of almost 13,Oct. 1990- Sept. 2004, 'Angel' was laid to rest in the shop of R&V Honda  & Acura Service in Chattanooga, TN an September 2nd 2004.

It was sad the day of her initial heart attack, but there was great joy in the successful heart transplant and her recovery.  However, when she began to get sick again just a few months later, it didn't look to good.  After a year of being on life support.  We finally decided that it was time to lay her to rest.

And now, as 'Angel' sleeps in Honda Heaven.  She will always be remembered.

God Bless 'Angel' The best car I have ever owned.
